Setting up, delivering and maintaining a bowel cancer screening service is highly challenging and those considering application to become a screening centre have much to learn and several hurdles to overcome.

The Wolfson Unit for Endoscopy at St Mark's Hospital was one of the first wave screening sites and as such it has a wealth of experience in delivering a high quality screening service.

This one day course is aimed at endoscopists, nurses, managers and administrative staff.   We will give you an overview of how to set up and run a successful bowel cancer screening centre and update you on the screening programme.  Endoscopists will learn how to perform safe, complete, and comfortable colonoscopy avoiding complications at polypectomy.

Our aim is to give you a head start in the accreditation process and to answer your questions on bowel cancer screening.

Programme includes:

  • Overview and update of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme
  • Live screening and therapeutic colonoscopy cases
  • Tips on insertion technique and the 3D ScopeGuide imager
  • How to set up and run a screening centre
  • The accreditation process demystified
  • Mock accreditation MCQ/Quiz
  • Meet the team/QA panel

The workshop is being co-ordinated by Dr Siwan Thomas-Gibson, of the Wolfson Unit for Endoscopy, St. Mark's Hospital, Harrow. Please click HERE to see our contact details and book your place.
