I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of a special St. Mark's Deep Enteroscopy Masterclass. This is a 2-day event, combining state-of-the-art presentations from internationally regarded experts, hands-on teaching, live cases and interactive discussion. The meeting is aimed at gastroenterologists, surgeons, trainees and nurses from the UK and Europe with a basic or advanced interest in deep enteroscopy (double balloon, single balloon and spiral enteroscopy).

The first day will provide "all you need to know" about the different types of deep enteroscopy currently available; indications, therapeutic options and insertion techniques will be discussed. The role of small bowel imaging prior to deep enteroscopy and management of particular conditions (e.g. small bowel Crohn's disease and obscure GI bleeding) will be highlighted. This will be followed by hands-on teaching in double and single balloon enteroscopy and spiral enteroscopy on animal models using Erlangen endo-trainers.

The second day will start with live patient demonstrations of deep enteroscopy followed by further talks and an interactive session including tips and tricks from the experts and discussion of interesting and challenging cases which will be particularly useful for the aspiring enteroscopist. The day will be rounded off by a quiz with prizes.

If you have an interesting case you would like to discuss please bring a short video or 1-2 Powerpoint slides along with you so that this can be presented during the meeting.

St. Mark's Hospital is the venue for the meeting and on behalf of our deep enteroscopy faculty we very much look forward to seeing you here for what should be an interesting and highly enjoyable 2 days.

Dr. Chris Fraser
Consultant Gastroenterologist
