A comprehensive one day teaching attachment to the Wolfson Unit for key Doctor and Nurse teaching personnel from regional centres.

6 CPD Credits Awarded by the Royal Colleage of Physicians. 

Aims
  • To teach consultant Gastroenterologists and Colorectal Surgeons state of the art techniques in diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy to confirm best practice in teaching these techniques.
  • To enhance the educators' technical skills at colonoscopy. 
  • To become familiar with electronic teaching aids.
  • To understand methods of performance assessment.
  • To gain experience of colonoscopy training ultilising electronic media under supervision of an expert.

Methodology
Doctor and Nurse Educators from regional centres will attend the Wolfson Unit for a comprehensive 1 day course:

Introduction to training tools
Colonoscopic Simulator Sesssion
AV and Multimedia Teaching Aids
Endoscopic Withdrawl Technique
Assessment Techniques
Hands on endoscopy lists with an expert

Outcome and Objectives
Following attendance at this course participants should be able to:
Practice safe, diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy techniques and teach these techniques to trainees.

Evaluation
Continuous feedback obtained during the day and a final feedback questionnaire.
