What is endoscopy?

An endoscopy procedure will allow your doctor to visually inspect your gastrointestinal tract. Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (also known as OGD) includes visualisation of the oesophagus (food pipe), stomach and duodenum (the first portion of the small bowel). Lower Gastrointestinal endoscopy is visualisation of the colon (large bowel).
