Aims
- To demonstrate advanced knowledge of the normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology of the GI tract
- To develop and demonstrate safe and accurate flexible sigmoidoscopy skills in line with JAG guidelines
- To fulfil the criteria of the common foundation programme for flexible sigmoidoscopy training (JAG 2001)
- To demonstrate knowledge of common disease processes of the GI tract and demonstrate knowledge of appropriate interventions and treatment pathways
- To develop & demonstrate nurse practitioner skills for patient assessment, clinical evaluation, performance of flexible sigmoidoscopy and to plan appropriate follow up care
Classroom based teaching, computer simulation, one-to-one practical hands-on training and formal seminars.
Evaluation
Formative assessments including
- Seminars
- MCQ exam
- Practical Flexible sigmoidoscopy OSCE
- Written Assignments
- Video procedure evaluation ('tri-split' assessment)
